Julie Thigpen, RN

I was raised in Jacksonville Florida and received my BSN from the University of North Florida. After graduating from nursing school I worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Jacksonville for 2 years then 1 year in Colorado. After working 3 years in the NICU I wanted to pursue a different area of nursing, so I visited a few school clinics in APS and fell in love with school nursing. I am passionate about working with students and their families and my goal each day is to help students feel safe and healthy at school so they are able to focus in the classroom and achieve their goals.

This is my 25th year working in APS. I worked at South Middle School for 6 years, Murphy Creek K-8 for 4 years, Vista Peak campus for 9 years, Aurora Frontier P-8 for 5 years and I am so excited to be joining the William Smith community. I am an avid runner and coached Track in APS for 8 years at both the middle school and high school level and I am currently the assistant Cross Country coach at Vista Peak Preparatory.

My husband and I have been married for 26 years and we have 2 children and 2 goldendoodle dogs. Our daughter is 20 years old and in her third year of college at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah Georgia and our son is 14 years old and will be a freshman at Cherokee Trail High School this year. Our family loves spending time outdoors exploring the beautiful nature of Colorado and we are also HUGE Bronco and Nuggets fans!
